Hi all,

As usual, CDPR keeps confusing us. The current offline installer files are labeled "4.00 Hotfix2"

Is the patch 4.01 not yet available without Galaxy?

Also, going by the changelog on Steams's update log,

*************
* Fixed an issue where the Screen Space Reflections setting wasn't working on PC despite being turned on. Players who had previously set their SSR setting to high may notice a performance impact.
* Added a new performance mode for ray-traced global illumination, which can be toggled by players with compatible hardware. It improves frame rate by prioritizing performance over range and precision.
******************************

...that is all we get after more than a month of waiting? This doesn't even address many of the repeat problems noted here like music bugs, performance bugs, game crashes?

They're not going to be fixing any performance issues, because they cheaped out by using d3d11on12 instead of a proper dx12 implementation.

I don't have the 4.01 patch either yet. The 4.00 Hotfix 2 has been available since Christmas.

I'm hoping that they haven't listed the performance tweaks in the patch log. While themexican99 is right in that they should have gone for a proper DX12 implementation, that doesn't mean that performance cannot be improved beyond v4.00h2

I am waiting for the offline installers too. Usually it takes a bit until new versions are offered this way, but I do not mind, because I do not use the GOG Galaxy and always store the offline installers, which gives me freedom over my used versions for GOG games.

I will wait a bit, because I have the latest (old) version of Witcher 3 (1.31) and played it two times from begin to end. It runs and looks fine, so I still am a bit unsure if I really want a 60GB download, if it is worth it. But I will not use the older version (4.0 Hotfix 2). If I try the NextGen version it should be the 'best' and latest version available.

So I hope the offline installers will be updated some time. Hopefully before the next patch drops. But I am in no hurry...

Also what can be read about performance is not very inviting. I have a RTX 3080 Ti here, so it should run fine. But reading all the reviews I am in doubt a bit. And the old version looks great anyway...

My PC: Intel i9-10900X CPU, 32 GB Memory, Windows 10, RTX 3080 Ti. Not the absolut best gaming PC which can be had, but should be able to run this NextGen game fine, I think...

That is exactly my pain... 2080S pushing 4K here, 1.31 runs and looks nice enough, but the new DX11 features I saw are just that bit more pretty and current-tech that I would like to have them. Without trading the solid stable experience and performance...

If you can get the DX12 version running, even without RTX you still get some additional features over DX11 next gen (apparently)

I actually get better performance in DX12 than DX11 on 4.0 hotfix 2

3080ti might not be enough for RTX (although with the RTX performance mode in 4.01 when it rolls out it might work). I understand you need the frame generation from DLSS 3.0 to really get an okay framerate with RTX On.
