Demoniko: and you can easily reload if your health drops below 100% before you die.
Nirth: Thanks but I never play ironman mode unless it's forced. That particular advice isn't what I would call legitimate however because the whole point with Insane is that you are not allowed to reload after one death, if you then find a loophole just before you die you might as well play on Dark to get the same difficulty but you are allowed to reload.
I've only played it through once but my next playthrough will be on Dark.
I never meant reloading
after you die. I meant reload as soon as you get damaged, no matter for how much. Try to always pay attention to sounds to be able to react to monsters coming from back. Invest 2 points into reducing back damage. Go full alchemy build and use defensive potions. Most of the time nothing will be able to do enough damage to kill you, the only dangerous parts are begining of A1 (bad equipment, a lot of monsters), letho figth in A1 (he's quite strong for being so early in the game and the room is very small), eternal battle in A2 (can be tricky due to different gameplay), operator in A3 (very small room for mistakes, very high damage).
I also enjoy dark more, but I completed insane quite a few times before dark was released. I died mostly in the parts I mentioned above. The bad part about insane is that you can't backup saves without cheating. I made a tool a while ago to backup insane saves, but it could also be used for cheating the insane restriction of 1 death. Now that there is a dark mode I no longer need it, because I completed the game on dark for W3 import. I think this mode doesn't really work great for a save based game, especially when you need to import saves to later game. I enjoy playing hc in Diablo though.
