begolf00: Will not bother playing until a user can increase the frame rate rate. Like you could in BG2 and Throne. 30 frames a second is painfully slow.
Are you sure that will be possible? I think in both games frames are interconnected with the engine so increasing it (or decreasing) changes the speed of the engine. I currently have BG Trilogy installed and any changes to frames does that, for BG1 at least. And yes I agree, 30FPS is rather yucky.

As for EE, I went to BeamDog's forums and it seems there are a lot of people with issues like crashes, sound cracking and game breaking bugs.

Well, I'm glad I didn't spend my money on it. Beamdog dropped the ball on this project, which, sadly, is sth I expected would happen way back when they announced it. Baldur's Gate is a massive game... and they should've realized that going in and doing all the things they promised they would do would be an equally massive undertaking, and something they needed a lot more time and talent for than they had.

I'll stick with my GOG.com version and all the great mods :)

My guess is that they locked the frame rate at a rate that all PCs and tablets can safely do in order to let their matchmaking service work automatically. Just a guess.

I was actually commenting on the original game but what you said makes sense, they might have even hardcoded it.

I've done some searching including piracy sites and beamdog forum and it seems it has mixed issues and opinions so far. I'm not sure if it's a common mistake but it seems it's not working for a lot of people that might be correlated with a low spec computer.

When they fix the current issues, skip the DRM and reduce the price tag I think this is definitely going to be worth it. They now include a tutorial sequence in the game and the fact that you don't have to do any modding yourself to get it up and running on a modern computer is probably a good reason to choose it over the original game if that's something that's important for you.

I haven't gotten far yet, so have not found any game breaking bugs, but it was really, really nice to just install the game and not deal with mods.
Just saw the new intro video, and there aren't words in the English language to properly describe my disgust. Did an intern spend 2 hours making that filth?

Looks like the official forum has imploded with bug reports too. Just have a really bad impression of this whole project, after being cautiously optimistic when I first heard about it.

Moneygrab off a classic name. Little else.
My real hope when clicking on the intro video was that it would be basically the same but would replace the cleric's toy armor with candy cane horns, and possibly mute the far-too-large spikes on the stranger's armor.

What they gave... with the camera rotating on static images... without even all the original dialogue ("there are others, I can show you, PLEASE!"), is just... saddening.

Definitely prefer the old intro. I wonder if the reason for it being subpar is that they didn't intend to do it originally (so didn't have much budget to allocate to it), but then realized they couldn't scale the original to the new resolutions without making it look like crap or only take up a tiny part of the screen (like with the widescreen mod)

Maybe I'm getting confused but all I know is that BG:EE is based on the latest build from Throne and in Throne and BG:2 you could from the launcher hit configuration and select what frame the game would move at. The Default is 30, I would run at 60. Lots of others run at 40 or 50.

People keep saying you can't do this, even though it's been done for years. So either I'm making things up or speeding the game up through what I talked about has nothing to do with frame rate and it's something else and I just don't know what I'm talking about lol. I know with mods you could play BG with 60 framerate.

Yea the intro is pretty bad but some animations I have heard are good. The only other one I've seen is the sleep resting animation and that one I think is good. But the intro is horrible. Missing dialogue and no quote from Nietzsche.

So far I'm kinda underwhelmed. One reason is the missing cutscenes, the other is how many bugs I've already encountered. This game needs a LOT more polish, I just hope Overhaul realize that.

I asked on SpellHold Forums about this and a user there responded with this:

"Well, things happen when you combine the used FPS count to background drawing and the AI the programming etc., yes it's engine build problem of sorts... anyways, the FPS count doesn't matter at all if the game lags dropping your FPS count, as then you won't get to react at all when the frames are skipped. Yes, the game is designed to be played in 30 FPS in the configuration, and if you go over that, any and all engine phenominons that you might run into are because you are not using the base configuration. "

I'm not sure about how that effects EE but as far as of what I've read there's no option to change the FPS anymore, they probably locked it to 30FPS this time to avoid multiplayer and engine issues.

I just tried to see if it happens. If I run Baldur's Gate Trilogy with 60FPS in configuration the speed is twice fast as originally intended (as 30FPS is default). It doesn't really break the game unless unknown bugs appear and you have the pause function but it looks weird. I walked up to a fountain and it was sprouting water way too fast.

That sucks! I've never had any problem playing at 60. As long as BG:EE is locked at 30 I will never play it. I'll just use a modded version of BG. What a waste of money so far. I know for me and others. People are complaining on the official forums about the cap. Were all use to playing at 60 after being spoiled by mods.

As usual, I must not have read the fine print before purchasing BGEE. I took for granted that I'd be able to run BGEE on my current PC, knowing that I can run BGII perfectly well.

Buuut, apparently my Intel parts are unsupported. I'm able to start the game and look at the "options" (lol, soooo many options :p ), but I've BOD'd three times so far during character creation (when I get to the class selection screen).

I'm a very sad panda right now :(

Apparently it has something to do with OpenGL not being supported by Intel or being very buggy with it. I might keep trying various graphics options and configurations, maybe I'll get lucky and solve my issue through trial and elimination.

While I feel your pain it pays to be vigilant when it comes to technical specifications, even for simple remakes.

This is what they list on BeamDog's page:
Required System Memory (MB) 512 MB
Minimum Graphics OpenGL 2.0 compatible (Intel graphics chipsets are NOT supported)
Processor Speed (GHz) 1 GHZ

In your situation I would either wait with EE until you have a new computer (and until they with the initial bugs) or play the original version with mods.

Yeah, I already said that in my post. No need to rub it in :p
