Nirth: Are you sure that will be possible? I think in both games frames are interconnected with the engine so increasing it (or decreasing) changes the speed of the engine. I currently have BG Trilogy installed and any changes to frames does that, for BG1 at least. And yes I agree, 30FPS is rather yucky.
As for EE, I went to BeamDog's forums and it seems there are a lot of people with issues like crashes, sound cracking and game breaking bugs.
begolf00: Maybe I'm getting confused but all I know is that BG:EE is based on the latest build from Throne and in Throne and BG:2 you could from the launcher hit configuration and select what frame the game would move at. The Default is 30, I would run at 60. Lots of others run at 40 or 50.
People keep saying you can't do this, even though it's been done for years. So either I'm making things up or speeding the game up through what I talked about has nothing to do with frame rate and it's something else and I just don't know what I'm talking about lol. I know with mods you could play BG with 60 framerate.
I asked on SpellHold Forums about this and a user there responded with this:
"Well, things happen when you combine the used FPS count to background drawing and the AI the programming etc., yes it's engine build problem of sorts... anyways, the FPS count doesn't matter at all if the game lags dropping your FPS count, as then you won't get to react at all when the frames are skipped. Yes, the game is designed to be played in 30 FPS in the configuration, and if you go over that, any and all engine phenominons that you might run into are because you are not using the base configuration. "
I'm not sure about how that effects EE but as far as of what I've read there's no option to change the FPS anymore, they probably locked it to 30FPS this time to avoid multiplayer and engine issues.
I just tried to see if it happens. If I run Baldur's Gate Trilogy with 60FPS in configuration the speed is twice fast as originally intended (as 30FPS is default). It doesn't really break the game unless unknown bugs appear and you have the pause function but it looks weird. I walked up to a fountain and it was sprouting water way too fast.
