In space, no one can hear you hide.

Objects in Space is now available In Development, DRM-free on GOG.com.
An open world of endless, time-based possibilities. Most of them dangerous. Engaging in combat is rarely wise but you can stealthily fly past them, outrun them or -if push comes to shove- outgun them. There are dozens of NPCs to meet and trade with, employees to hire, and routes to explore with your fully customizable ship. What kind of star-farer do you imagine yourself to be?

Boop!

Edit: Interesting idea.

Interesting, this is really cool feature for me: Build your own DIY controllers at home using Arduinos
I'm very interested in this and will watch very closely. Also, their name (Flat Earth Games) had me wondering if they are "those" folks, but here is the explanation from their official website:
Thankfully, we came up with Flat Earth, a title which harks back to our love of 2D world-creating games from the early 90s, and is also the name of a bunch of folks with a rather tenuous grasp of reality whom we found amusing. Edit: My word, there are a lot of them!

Great idea, but mind you it's not novel; people have been building home cockpits/gauges/gizmos for flight & racing sims for quite sometime now. Youtube has a lot of great tutorials on how to build such things using arduinos etc. ;)
I'll certainly keep a close look on this one, wishlisted for now, we'll se how it fares :)

I noticed that too. A game actually promoting home made Steel battalion like controllers immediately piques my attention.

That and the fact that i myself have had the idea in my mind for many years that a submarine/north Atlantic convoys like detection based(if you played Harpoon you know what i'm talking about) space sim would be cool, but could never figure out how to make it into a fun game. Wishlisted for now, may buy it once freeplay comes out, especially if the coming Steam sale disappoints.

I know, but I have never seen such a direct support from devs... it was always kind of reverse engineering...

Now that i think of it, you're right about that. I'm curious to see the various setups that people will come up with.
The aim is high. If they deliver it might be a fantastic game.

Good luck. Let's hear from them when they think it is truly ready for the market.
I adore the look of this game. Completely the kind of thing I love.

INSTABUY

Thank you wonderful devs & GoG about to start playing this awesome title.

Would have been super weird for flat-earthers to make a game about flying in a space with very spherical planets, Newtonian mechanics and such, don't you think :D?
Could be really good when it's finished and they are ready to sell it to people as a finished product!

Honestly, i'm not entirely sure what they think of the rest of the solar system (are all the planets flat?) and i'm too afraid to ask. :P Recently, I had the misfortune to meet a person who believed things like that and the conversation that followed when i told him that i'm fascinated by the cosmos and amateur astronomy is one of my hobbies, was really... dumb. I tried to explain to him with several facts that the Earth isn't flat as he claimed, but he refused to hear any of it because "he knew it is flat and i'm the one who should learn better". Eventually he mentioned something about conspiracies, holograms etc and he lost me completely.

That is the great thing about science: it does not demand belief at all.

At all.

Actually, when there is belief involved, it is not science but prejudice. And it does not work.

The scientific method summarized:

Information from available data => Someone comes with a theory that explains the data (and allows working with it) and makes predictions about data available in the future => The new data tests the predictions and either validates the theory or demands a better theory that provides a model that allows working with all the available data, the newly added included. => Repeat as long as there are people wondering how things work.

The belief method, or better, the guesser method:

This thing I heard matches my prejudices => Ergo, it must be true. The end.
