Build your dynasty.

Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, a 3000-year build-up of China's turbulent history, is now available, DRM-free and as a digital exclusive on GOG.com!

Being the Emperor of such a vast and ancient kingdom is nothing if not challenging. Once you're done admiring the exotic visuals, you will be faced with the economic, political, military, and diplomatic affairs that will either expand your kingdom or abruptly halt its glorious course through history.
I do love the City Builders and the setting of this one really appeals.

Nice cheap price to, will have to pick it up at some point.

jamyskis: Memory may be failing me, but isn't this the same game that was released as "Der erste Kaiser" in Germany?
It is.

Yes it it!
Great release! I've never had the chance to play Emperor; thank you GOG & Activision!

Grargar: Why are you so happy? We all know what's going to happen eventually.

tfishell: Oh right, literally nobody's going to buy the GOG version and instead just wait for the Steam release so that they can have all their games in one place. Almost forgot. *cries self to sleep*
lmao how long do you gog got the exclusive release window? would be shocking if steam release came just after the drm free
Got that game in german in physical form.

Great release!

I wish those citibuilders would also come with the german versions.

tfishell: EDIT: shouldn't BreakAway Games and/or Impressions Games be the first company(s) credited instead of Sierra?
Yes, but GOG usually writes what the publishers tell them to. Also, BreakAway was only contractually obliged to making the game (like for the Cleopatra expansion for Pharaoh), and Impressions Games doesn't exist anymore. Still, OCD kicks in whenever I see this form of crediting on the main page :P
These are such great releases. Thank you GOG and Activision! Now I'm more depressed that I'm on the road for work this weekend - 20th. No time to play. D:
havent known this game till now but it looks utterly worthy of my wishlist!

moonshineshadow: Interesting. Anyone know how different the game mechanics are compared to Zeus&Poseidon?
More or less the same, refined. Eg. roadblocks are now gates that can be set to stop certain types of walkers and let others pass. Multiple food sources can be farmed at the same farm.
Religion has differing mechanics... with heroes that can bring significant modifications to your cities.

If memory serves. I think it was the only one in the series with multiplayer.

Oooh I forgot: the quality of food plays an important role!

It's pretty similar to Zeus, but it restores some of the complex mechanics from Pharaoh that were simplified in Zeus. For example, it uses the same house style and worker system from Zeus but the gods has to be satisfied constantly, like in Pharaoh. The army does not depend on the rich houses like Zeus but instead uses style as Pharaoh, where you had a recruitment building and different training buildings for each type of military types (like cavalry/chariots, infantry or archers).

I can't speak for the multiplayer part of Emperor, since I never had the opportunity to try it.
That's a funny way of spelling Laura Bow...
Finally. Have been waiting for it for a long time. And bought.
I guess this means no Discworld games, then?

Okay... :(
