Into the Stars a space survival and exploration sim, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% launch discount.

Think ruthless, unforgiving adventure and you barely scraping by. Think roguelike journey across beautiful, 3D universes. To survive, think faster than light.
You're at the helm of Ark-13 — a hulking colonial space ship home to 10,000 human civilians. The last. Your destination lies star systems away, and the trip is long and fraught with peril. But these men, women, and children have entrusted you with their lives.

Tread carefully, because you're in complete control of every single thing on the ship.

Into The Stars launched in early 2015 as an early access title, and has since evolved immensely thanks to community feedback. It recently received a huge overhaul to the combat and management systems, as well as tons of new content with more meaningful choices and many more branching stories. Today's launch brings a complete UI overhaul, even more content, and many other improvements. For more info on what's changed, check out the developer's changelog.

Set off on a voyage Into the Stars now DRM-free on GOG.com. The launch discount will last for one week, until March 11, 4:59 PM GMT.
Can we call it Poor Man's Sky?

For $18!? I don't think so! :P
So we have gone full circle now, with all these space games coming out.

Remember all those space shooters and/or games with SPACE in their name on Atari & other 8-Bit consoles?

Well... it's time for space again. Next: Swords, Dragons, Epic Adventures no wait that was a while ago.

Collecting dots in maze-like structures, that'll be next. No, that's GTA & its clones.

I guess I should be glad I don't have to rely on my predictions for a living. But let's take bets - which genre do YOU think will saturate the market next?

How is it related to NMS besides the space theme? From what i understand it's similar to FTL but with shiny graphics.
Okay, wishlisted this title but I'm going to need to do some research on it first. Glad to see space sim games coming back somewhat.

But......*sigh*........that 8GB of RAM. Really sucks being stuck with a laptop you got back in 2010 :(
The thumbnail link to the trailer on the game card doesn't work.

Edit: Hmm, now it does.

Well, isn`t there a game named "Sword of the Stars"? So there`s a mix of stars and swords already.
Which games will saturate the market next? Hm, maybe some Space Invaders clones? Or some clones of the Epyx games series?
Oh, by the way: 8 GM RAM minimum? Really?

There was a time when RTS's and FPSs were flooding the market 10-20 years ago. The RTS genre seems to have petered out somewhat but I don't think FPS games have run their course yet. They've over saturated the market for quite a while now and still remain popular.
And redeemed! Here's hoping my PC will run it. :D
Looks more interesting to me than Elite! but I'll have to wait for an OS upgrade.

Don`t you want Space Invaders clones? We could call on "Steam Invaders". Little Steam logos are coming from above and the player must shoot them to save the whole Gogkind from the evil invasion of the DRMlings!!

There has always been a flood of braindead action games, FPS is just a variant of it. I doubt it will ever stop.

So..what is volley based combat? Like Tennis close to the net?

With independent development and distribution, there are no thematic cycles anymore, really. ("Space" is not a genre.) Space games come out every damn day. Look how many generic strategies set in space are on GOG, with their generic lore and generic alien races. There are cash-in trends, but they don't happen because a theme is due a resurrection, they happen when someone craps out a commercial hit.
