this game actively employs a software mouse which makes arm wrestling annoying and navigating the menus a chore. simply changing this to a hardware mouse will make a huge difference for many of us.

Yes, yes, yes and YES. Across the internet it is apparent that the mouse is an issue in menus for many folk, in spite of all the kind suggestions offered.

As an aside, why is this not already an option?

who knows theres no negatives of changing it only positive.
everyone , needs to bring this up as it can make allot of the game much smoother.

and no one better deny that this needs to be fixed.

I use a logitech wireless mouse -made for laptops but works on a PC- and once I set mouse sensitivity to zero I had fewer problems. I also have started using the arrow keys and enter when in ALL menus and it is much easier! Not really a mouse tip but it's a viable alternative

that does not slove anyone's mouse problems as software mosue only affects menu systems and the armwrestle

Indeed, lazy programming, apparently to make a console port easier (same comments on the FFXIV forums re hardware mouse in that game).

but at least they put the HW mouse in durrign the beta phase
Yes please and yes please. The hardware test tells me I am PC-Medium but even at PC-Low parts of the game are unplayable because of this stupid mouse issue.
as i play though the game... making a hardware mouse may be near impossible without revamping most of the game. why? they actually seem to use joystick emulation for two of the mini-games. and who knows what else.

Actually, there seems to be a lot of controller emulation in the game which doesn't necessarily translate well to the PC.

I have been using a wireless mouse, but the batteries seem to pick the worse possible times to die. :p

that's not just bad for PC, its HORRIBLE. and that is what cinches it, they built this game 100% in hopes of making it for the consoles later. and i feel betrayed for it.
Another vote for hardware mouse ! This would make the game much more enjoyable on low-spec PCs like mine. I get about 30fps in game, I've learned to live with it, but the laggy mouse in menus is really unbearable.

Would it be so hard to implement HW mouse in menus, but not in minigames ?

it would because that would mena it would be switching back and forth. and i dont like to comprimize to have ahalf assed job especially on a PC game. this is the only pc only (i know its not now) game that has a software mouse with emulated input
+1
i not happy with software mouse too.
I wouldn't mind if it didn't feel so damn floaty. As long as it feels like my mouse, I'd be happy
