227: In fact, the only thing in the entire game that really matches that level of weirdness is when you meditate with the Visionary's special potion on Roche's path.
I SAW A GIANT CHICKEN
IN A FOREST OF MUSHROOMS

The two quests are almost related, lol.

bhoqeem: It'd prefer it it adds more depth and back story to either the original dweller of the hut, or to the "Lifting the Curse" quest
avatar
227: If the buildup contained as much depth as or somehow tied into the curse-lifting quest, the end of said quest would be seriously less entertaining because of how unexpected it is. In fact, the only thing in the entire game that really matches that level of weirdness is when you meditate with the Visionary's special potion on Roche's path. It never promises to turn into anything epic, so it differentiates itself from other quests so that you never have to worry about them having a similarly "fluff" ending.

It's light and entertaining and not really relevant to anything, so I found collecting a bunch of harpy feathers to be appropriate, personally. Besides, it was kind of amusing given that the only thing they said about the quest was that it rewarded those who demonstrate patience :)
Or the story of the original dweller of the hut. That'd be interesting.

That's true... interesting. Anytime CDPR wants to go the "weird" route, the first thing that jumps into their mind is feathers.

Perhaps we can extrapolate to figure out the content of future DLC. Maybe Geralt has to chase down a carrier pigeon sending an important letter to Nilfgaard? Or perhaps the upper kingdoms are suddenly beset with avian flu, and Geralt has to run around slaughtering birds to save everyone.

I guess, but it'd be really out of place if it wasn't something amusing. It's really, really difficult to mix serious things and funny things together.

Make it like that "Hangover Quest", then. That's an amusing mix between serious and funny.

Personally, I'd consider having a DLC where Dandelion begs for Geralt's help to deal with the wrath of one of the village women he womanized, for instance--taken from a similar story in the book. Or when it turns out that the woman has a fiance or boyfriend who works under Tuledo or something.

Many ideas, actually. If only CDPR releases the SDK or the toolset for the community to mod with.

At least something we have in common. They should hire me.

Every time they mention chicken, all I can think about is El Pollo Diablo from Monkey Island.

I've never played Monkey Island :(

You can't berate me for this in good conscience until you've played through the Half Life games.
I've played Monkey Island. One of my favorite franchises until they butchered it in the last installment.

Half Life is overrated. I think.

So there are multiple Monkey Island games? Any suggestions for where to start?

To be honest, I only played Curse of Monkey Island (which is the third game in the series). Tho I recently got revamped versions of the first two games. I tried the fourth one, but it's 3D and really awkward, I didn't like it.

...and I just spent half an hour getting HL1 to work. Now to fix aspect ratio issues...

Sorry. I feel the need to apologize since it's technically an inconvenience I created by hassling you :)

But it's a really good game, for what it's worth. Hopefully you enjoy it enough that it's worth the trouble.
Quest for Glory.

I was going to play it anyway ;)

...or not. It's triggering my motion sickness like whoa, time to see if anything can be done to change camera movement. Maybe I'll just jump straight to HL2...

(and sorry for OT'ing all the time T_T)

Ah, I was afraid of that. HL2 is less of a straight shooter compared to the first, though the perspective and camera movement aren't too different. Do you have trouble with all first-person games?

Anarki_Hunter: Quest for Glory.
Was that directed at me, or just a non sequitur?

Slightly more on topic but not really: someone seriously needs to mod the "fluff" quest guy into the Visionary quest. Preferably doing something illicit to the giant chicken. So many questions would be answered.
