This feature, as many others, could look good on paper, but in reality it's far from being one. This feature would be nice as reminder of returning gamers who haven't touched their games in awhile and forgot what's going on, but current execution is pretty flawed. Unlike those loading screens we saw in Skyrim (hello, Skeletonbow;)), these screens very rarely updated (only on main quests and tied to area you're in), hearing (and reading) all same stuff all over again reminds me of Spectres from Starcraft 2:
- Welcome to anger management volume one. Repeat after me: Anger does not dictate my life.
- Anger does not dictate my life.
- Anger does not dictate my life.
- YOU JUST SAID THAT YOU STUPUD!
What is ironic, they do have "silent" screens that give various useful information (hello, Skyrim), but you usually see those when loading after death. Probably just to prevent you going all Adam Jensen and punching the screen.
Current screens annoy especially when you try to explore the dialogues, or simply want to try different approach, learning what could be your favourite combat style, or what combat approach is better for current situation, just because it's pure Starcraft Spectre all the way.
Those silent screens do have loading bar informing you of how long time there left (approximately), so I really do not understand why there is no option to turn them off. I know Geralt arrived to Velen to constant Hendrik, emperor's spy, no need to tell me this again, for fortieth time this half an hour.
I can't speak for all people, but most I know dislike seeing and hearing same thing all over again. Especially in relatively short period of time. I'd appreciate an active quest information, for example, could be useful for first load in a day, just to remind you where you left, but only once.
