I don't want a story update everytime it loads. THAT is very annoying.
I actually like it to be honest. Better than just looking at a loading screen, unless you load like every half hour.
Would be nice to have a loading bar showing percentage during loading savegames etc. Whether it is instead of the cutscene or at the bottom of it or something. You can hit the spacebar to terminate the cutscene early but only if the level has loaded, although it appears that if it has loaded and the cutscene hasn't finished it will let it play out to see the whole thing. The loading % bar would help to know when to hit spacebar to terminate it. Would be nice to be able to terminate the audio on those loading cutscenes after they've been fully watched at least once or something.
Already been suggested in wishlist topic. :)
This feature, as many others, could look good on paper, but in reality it's far from being one. This feature would be nice as reminder of returning gamers who haven't touched their games in awhile and forgot what's going on, but current execution is pretty flawed. Unlike those loading screens we saw in Skyrim (hello, Skeletonbow;)), these screens very rarely updated (only on main quests and tied to area you're in), hearing (and reading) all same stuff all over again reminds me of Spectres from Starcraft 2:
- Welcome to anger management volume one. Repeat after me: Anger does not dictate my life.
- Anger does not dictate my life.
- Anger does not dictate my life.
- YOU JUST SAID THAT YOU STUPUD!
What is ironic, they do have "silent" screens that give various useful information (hello, Skyrim), but you usually see those when loading after death. Probably just to prevent you going all Adam Jensen and punching the screen.
Current screens annoy especially when you try to explore the dialogues, or simply want to try different approach, learning what could be your favourite combat style, or what combat approach is better for current situation, just because it's pure Starcraft Spectre all the way.
Those silent screens do have loading bar informing you of how long time there left (approximately), so I really do not understand why there is no option to turn them off. I know Geralt arrived to Velen to constant Hendrik, emperor's spy, no need to tell me this again, for fortieth time this half an hour.
I can't speak for all people, but most I know dislike seeing and hearing same thing all over again. Especially in relatively short period of time. I'd appreciate an active quest information, for example, could be useful for first load in a day, just to remind you where you left, but only once.

like every half hour?
I quite like it as does my partner as she's watching me play it and likes to be reminded of what point the main plot is up to.

Is there anywhere you can read all the loading screen tips? A couple of those were genuinely useful and I didn't know. Like hitting someone while riding at them fast has a chance to instant kill them O.o

Ha. I did this accidentally yesterday with the fire skill when I tought I had the shield equipped. It's a 1hit kill when they ly on the ground, and makes killing them ridiculously easy

Now I wonder wich other hints could be usefull. .That's usually a problem with games imo when they show hints during loading, usually you barely have any time to read them.

It's all right at the beginning of a playing session, if you haven't fired the game up in a few days or so, but I agree it gets old if it keeps starting up each time you reload a save game. I liked those concept artworks on the Witcher 1 loading screens. And gameplay tips or stats ( or both ) are always a good option in this kind of game.

Even if you could just mute the talk, cause the art is fantastic.
Those load scenes are annoying as hell. Especially since for some reason on my system they have freezes and studder, so when a game loads, I have to either mash space bar all the time or guess when it actually has an effect.
Add to that the fact that frequent repetitive game loads might be required to figure out stuff that should have been included in a game manual or tutorial glossary (e.g. how do different foods heal), and the whole thing is a big downside.
Just wanted to throw in my support for this request. I'm fine with the story recap during the first loading of the game, but there are times, when for reasons like losing at gwent or purchasing an expensive diagram i don't need just to see its details, I reload several times within a short period of time.

I'm running the game from an SSD and it feels to me that the story recap just wastes my time during these manual savegame loads. I think that after the initial loading of the game, subsequent savegame loads within the same gaming session should all be handled like the reload after dying. No recap.
Much prefer a loading bar. The re-cap does my head in, time after time after time after time after time.
It was a darn silly idea.
Nice to know Im not the only one.
i also feel like its artificially long loading times. but yes tbh i would prefer a bar, id like to see this every once in awhile, but maybe once per different area/progress (for example as it is if im in velen or novigrad hell say different things. after ive heard them both tho just makes the loading seem that much longer)

also dandelion being old makes me sad, reminds me of the passage of time etc, and ihave to sit there with that weighing on me, who wants that in a witcher game??
They should include an option to just view nude screenshot poses of the various hotties Geralt can bed in the game as an alternative to the cut scene loader, since they graphics are already present anyway. I'd much rather watch that after the cut scene has played once.
