why don't they just do steam version patches and forget about the stupid auto update feature?

steam treats its customers like idiots who don't know how to install a patch. and maybe they're right and it's more convenient for the average steam user.

now cdpr has to do little dzip packets for steam in every game update. i can only wonder what kind of performance issues that would cause. not to mention the old files still sitting inside pack0 conflicting with new files sitting outside of it. this isn't additional files, but replacement files. that means it won't be using old file structure.

thinking about this pisses me off how valve idiots refuse to make things work for developers. they just want their idiot system intact so the morons don't have to learn how to install patches.

I'm getting "error creating temporary file" when i try to patch. If i run the patcher.exe inside the game folder i get the same error. How to fix this?

I'd try running the patcher_1.2.exe as admin (right-click -> run as admin).

I've got the GoG version. Can't find the 1.2 patch anywhere, only the 1.1

Already tried. Same error.

ooh ... never mind, I was 100% certain my GOG version was 1.1 already, since it downloaded and installed a patch right after installing the game ... now I see that I was mistaken - downloaded 1.1 from GOG and bam! immediately starts downloading 1.2.

Thanks for the help, slightly confusing with half the patching being automated and half requiring manual downloads :)

There's no GoG-specific patch anymore, just head over to http://en.thewitcher.com/patch1-2/ and get it there.

using mods is very very bad for patching :( looks like I have to reinstall again so the patch will go through :(

C:-drive full (where the temporary directory is)?
If not, redownloading the patch might be worth a try.

the changelog included that vll b able to delete the save games from the menu ... but theres no delete button i can see .. n iwas realy lookin forward to that

All versions of the game are the same now(with the exception of the steam one) since patch 1.1 removed the drm all the versions are now the same as the gog one so any patches from hereon out will be the same for everyone

why wasn't 2 patch 1.2 available in the My Games inside Witcher 2? patch 1.1 is it there.

i downloaded a different version of patch 1.2 and just noticed it didnt work.

it works just fine, just copy the patch file in Downloads before running it
