Not sure if this was mentioned. For those who have the "Patch is ready to be installed" message in the launcher, exit the launcher and run the launcher in administration mode. The patch would then auto install.
No word on performance improvement whatsoever right? Mostly peripheral/save/combat related issues fixed... at least the changelist said that much

Added a note about admin-mode to the OP. Thanks!
So I installed patch1.2 but I ran the patch on my own w/o using the splash page . Now a few options or links are missing from the games splash screen? I no longer see the dlc section and I think the register page is also missing? I now have total of 5 links Launch, Options, View Readme, Manual and the website link.? Is this normal behavior after this patch from a gog D/L?
Actually for me it made 16:10 resolution a *lot* worse. I would go so far as to say it BROKE 16:10 resolution (before 1.2; there were black borders but now it is horribly streteched and looks really bad).

hlhbk: Still didn't fix the game for 16:10 resolutions??? Come on!!!!
After the patch is applied is it supposed to remove the Registered Users, and DLC options from the menu?

Or did I screw something up?

It's perfectly normal. These links have been removed because they're useless (for now, anyways).

Check the game's graphics settings. They're resetted when patching and you might now accidentally run a 16:9 resolution auto-stretched by your graphics card.

I have a 22 inch monitor and according to the option screen it is set to 1680:1050; shoudl I be looking else where ?

Never mind; kind of sucks; even though I checked the resolution it appears the option menu LIED - i had to set to a different resolution; then play then set back to 1680:1050 for it to work. Oh well at least they are providing patches.

This method of patching is ridiculous.

I need patch v1.1 prior to installing patch v1.2.

No problem, execept patch v1.1 installs Troll Trouble DLC, and it must be deleted from CookedPC folder before patch v1.2 can be installed, which then installs Troll Trouble.

It's all clunky and unnecessary, I shouldn't have to screw around just to get a patch to install.

No... it's set up properly then.
But we could turn the whole thing around! :P
You could go to your graphics drivers and set it to letterbox-mode for non-native resolutions.

Edit: On second thought, that probably won't work because the game's resolution is in fact 1680x1050. :S
Try it, anyways.

See my edited post above; the option menu lied.

Aaden: Just to make this a bit more visible than in the middle of another thread.

The patch has been released and can be downloaded by either starting the game launcher (with admin privileges for successful auto-installation!) or via direct download here:
http://www.en.thewitcher.com/the-witcher/2/
Steam-users have to acquire the patch via Steam's patching automatic (not yet released).

Changelog here:
http://www.en.thewitcher.com/patch1-2/

Troubleshooting:
If you installed and activated TW2, thereby installing the day zero patch, but did not install Patch 1.1, auto-patching to 1.2 will not work. To update the game to its latest version, you must manually download and install Patch 1.1 (following the instructions) first, found here:
http://en.thewitcher.com/patch/

If you downloaded the patch via the game launcher but the installation does not start (install icon showing up, but nothing happens), you can start the installation manually from the directory C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Witcher 2\Downloads by using the Patcher_1.2.exe. Make sure the game launcher isn't running, when starting the .exe-file.

unconfirmed: It seems that 'unsuccessful' installation of the patch (e.g. running the patcher_1.2.exe while the launcher is running) may cause further trouble (like performance issues) even after a successful further attempt of patching. Re-installing the game may solve that.
Thank you for the clear noob friendly instructions! Luckily your troubleshooting hints solved my issues.
I love that CD Projekt Red is doing a great job with the patches. No Widescreen fix yet, but hell, look at those other changes. Also the inclusion of all the free DLC makes it even better! I'm especially happy that Geralt hits multiple enemies in combat, because it makes the game a lot less painful when it auto-targets the wrong enemy/
dude thanx ... din read that properly .. thanx

bullsheet: the changelog included that vll b able to delete the save games from the menu ... but theres no delete button i can see .. n iwas realy lookin forward to that
avatar
NINJ4R4BBID: Quote from 1.2 readme "To delete a game save, highlight the relevant item and press the Delete key." (literally key not button, hence theres no button).

avatar
Kitako: Didn't try the new patch yet, but patch notes say you have to hit "DELETE" key on your keyboard to delete the savegame

NINJ4R4BBID: Kitako beat me to the answer! ;)
